In December
Rizwan Ahmed Memon
When the wind blew in December,
I missed you.
When the night seemed to have no end in December,
I wished you were here.
When it was evening in December,
I wanted to take you for a walk.
When I needed you desperately in December,
I sat on the bank of the river and longed for you.
When I couldn’t have your company in December,
I pitied my own misfortune.
When loneliness hurt me in December,
I amused my heart by writing.
One more year passed in December--
I am still waiting for you.
When the wind blew in December,
I missed you.
When the night seemed to have no end in December,
I wished you were here.
When it was evening in December,
I wanted to take you for a walk.
When I needed you desperately in December,
I sat on the bank of the river and longed for you.
When I couldn’t have your company in December,
I pitied my own misfortune.
When loneliness hurt me in December,
I amused my heart by writing.
One more year passed in December--
I am still waiting for you.
